EP2C intervene on one of the largest open-pit nickel and cobalt mine in the world.
Located in Madagascar, it includes 2 main sites, Moramanga (extraction site) and Toamasina (processing plant) and indirectly employs about 6,000 people, contributing strongly to the development of the Malagasy economy.
The technology used for the transformation of raw ore into 99.9% pure nickel and cobalt briquettes is high pressure acid leaching (HPAL). This process uses high temperatures (about 255°celcius), high pressure (about 50 bar) and sulfuric acid to separate nickel and cobalt from laterite ore.
Since 2017, EP2C has strongly contributed to this project by bringing its expertise thanks to our talented nationals and expatriates consultants who intervene from the Engineering phase to the maintenance of the facilities.
We are also involved in the rehabilitation of the 200 km pipeline transporting slurry from the extraction site to the processing plant.
